Railway Museum Day Steam Expresses (Hyvinkää–Karjaa) 8/12/2018

The Finnish Railway Museum in Hyvinkää hosts its traditional Railway Museum Day on August 12th. This is one of the high points of the Finnish heritage train year, and now you can travel there like last year by steam express on the Hanko line from Karis (Karjaa)! This is a freight-only line with no regular passenger traffic since 1983. There will be connections at Karis to/from the Coastal Line trains from/to Turku and Helsinki and also from direction of Hanko.

VR hauls the coaches of Haapamäki Museum Locomotive Society (HMVY) in two return trains with express train steam locomotive Hr1 "Ukko-Pekka" 1021 from 1957.

The train tickets will be sold on board, as well as bracelets that give access to the Museum grounds on this day. The bracelets can also be purchased in advance. It is not possible to travel to Hyvinkää on these trains without a bracelet.
