HMVY 25 yrs: Day 1 (Jyväskylä–Iisalmi) 4/20/2018

Haapamäki Museum Locomotive Society (HMVY) celebrates its 25th year by operating a five-day tour in April with a heritage diesel train through Central and Northern Finland. This is organised in cooperation with the UK-based Branch Line Society.

The train is pulled mostly by a heavy main-line diesel locomotive, partly possibly also a lighter diesel locomotive. A restaurant car is included in the train.

The celebratory train visits several normally freight-only lines and, where possible, also smaller branches and sidings. These open up very rare opportunities for interested railway fans as well as local people.

Fri 20.4.: Jyväskylä–Suolahti–Äänekoski–Haapajärvi–Pyhäkumpu–Iisalmi
Sat 21.4.: Iisalmi–Otanmäki–Talvivaara–Kajaani
Sun 22.4.: Kajaani–Kontiomäki–Hyrynsalmi–Ämmänsaari–Hyrynsalmi–Kontiomäki–Oulu
Mon 23.4.: Oulu–Raahe–Ylivieska–Kokkola–Ykspihlaja–Kokkola–Pännäinen–Pietarsaari–Pännäinen–Seinäjoki
Tue 24.4.: Seinäjoki–Kaskinen–Seinäjoki–Haapamäki
